Southwest Safe Shelter:
  • a safe place to stay (4 weeks) for women and their children who are leaving an abusive situation
  • a comfortable, secure, home-like environment
  • 24 hour staff available to provide information and support
  • practical assistance, such as transportation to school and appointments
  • necessary items for your stay, including toiletries, food, bedding, and clothing
  • no charge for this service

Genesis Housing Program:
  • available to women and their children who have been a resident at the Southwest Safe Shelter
  • completion of a Tenancy Training Program
  • continued outreach support
Crisis Line:
  • available 24 hours a day
  • anyone is welcome to call our Crisis Line - female or male
  • staff offer information and referrals
  • supportive listening, and assistance in exploring options to resolve your issues
  • calls can include any situation with which you may feel unable to cope on your own
  • no charge for this service

Supportive Counselling & Outreach Services
  • Women, men and children dealing with interpersonal issues or at risk of abuse
  • Someone to assist you in finding healthy, constructive ways to deal with problems
  • Support and referral services
  • Assistance in finding specialized services such as: addiction services, mental health, medical services, private or pastoral counseling, legal assistance or a variety of other local services
  • Provides peer support; an opportunity to "check in" from time to time
  • Accompaniment to appointments as each individual requires, as well as strive to help enhance independence.
  • Develop strategies and goals with measurable and meaningful standards for each unique situation
  • Support counseling, advocacy, group support and education services for all

Violence Prevention Education
  • program is delivered through two strands: one-on-one child support, and school presentations
  • presentations are delivered at schools upon invitation
  • create, present and implement public and school based educational opportunities in regards to: boundaries, bullying, conflict resolution, dating violence, friendship, healthy relationships, peer pressure ect. To help create healthy families and communities.
